What changed
The new EU packaging legislation introduces registration, reporting and contribution obligations for everyone placing packaged goods on the market. The rules apply regardless of how small the volume is.
Why that weighs heavily on us
3AD and Sjoepapkes are hobby projects. They exist because we enjoy making things, not because there is a business case behind them. The administrative and financial burden that comes with the new rules simply does not match what these projects bring in. We are therefore closing both web shops so no further costs keep running.
What we are doing now
We are continuing our research. We are mapping out exactly what the legislation requires, what compliance would cost, and whether a workable form exists to carry on. That work is ongoing.
Will they come back?
Honestly, we do not know. Both projects are on hold and we cannot promise a restart. If we find a form that works, we will say so here.
